The YarraYigba Project

A great example of the type of project that could come to your school!

During weekly classes in term 2 & 3  Kofi worked with class 3 - 6 students from Warburton and Hoddles Creek Primary Schools, teaching them traditional drumming, dancing, songs and culture from Ghana and other West African countries.

The project culminated with a performance at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre led by Santha Press and Kofi which included the La La Community Chorus choir, local Ghanaian Highlife band, Afropanacea, Ghanaian dancers Shabba Eshun, Julius Bright Sakey, Appiah Annan, and guest appearances by Lamine Sonko and Ekow Crentsil.

Thanks to Lunasol for the wonderful photographs!
