During weekly classes in term 2 & 3 Kofi worked with class 3 - 6 of Warburton and Hoddles Creek Primary Schools, teaching them tradtional drumming, dancing, songs and culture from Ghana and other West African countries. This part of the project was made possible by two grants from the Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank Branches, the Upper Yarra Community Enterprise.
On September 13 at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre, a performance coordinated by Santha Press and directed by Santha and Kofi, was held by students, local choir the La La Community Chorus and local Ghanaian Highlife band, Afropanacea. They were joined on stage by Ghanaian dancers Shabba Eshun, Julius Bright Sakey, Appiah Annan, with guest apprearances by Lamine Sonko and Ekow Crentsil. This part of the project was funded by the Regional Arts Fund, supported by Yarra Ranges Council through in-kind venue hire and auspiced by the Warburton Advancement League.
